Removing public services..

Well, myself being a taxpaying public servant who does a little known but rather vital public service job are facing the stark reality of the ConDem cuts... This involves being given more work, for less pay, providing I still have a job, as it looks so likely I will have to reapply for the job I have been doing for the last XX years and where you cannot just do it overnight, it requires years of skill training as much as dedication. Boo-Hoo you all cry, you have your 'gold plated' pension.. Well my friends , contrary to popular belief, for what I have witnessed, there is a lot of keen and good people in the public service, who carry out vital jobs, which most of the general populous would turn their nose up at as either being 'dirty' or 'c**p' pay.. So in essence, if I have a job to go to after reapplying, my pay will be lower, I'll have to work till I am 66 and my pension will be poor to say the least...

Keep it up Prime Minister, you are doing a sterling job (of what I do not know).....

Thank you Sir Norman

The other night Look North our local TV news broadcast, pushed an item regarding West Yorkshire's Chief Constable saying he's paid too much as a public servant. Well thank you Sir Norman, us public sector workers are getting a hard enough time in the media regarding 'non-jobs' (i.e. outreach workers), sickness good pensions and anything else that can bash us... Now this makes my blood boil, because being a public servant, I am poorly paid for what I do, which I won't go into, but my job can and does make a huge difference to many peoples lives for the good and better.. Someone who is on £200K a year with a nice pension can afford to say that.. There are so many public servants who get paid peanuts to deal with some of the most difficult in society as well as doing the grottiest jobs... So I wish managers and people on such a high wage, keep humbly quiet and think before they speak on things that does not affect them.....

Volcanic Hassle

I hope this Icelandic eruption stops soon.. I have a USA holiday to look forward to in August and don't want to miss out.. I feel sorry for all the stranded passengers, esp. in the US who have no means of getting home. It must be costing them a fortune in hotel bills and the like and with little chance of getting any money back under the good old 'Act of God' clause in insurance policies and airline regulations. These people will do anything to get out of paying for some travellers misfortune and circumstances... Yes, it is a volcanic hassle....
